F.A.Q
October to March is the best time due to the pleasant cool weather.
Note: The town is busiest during Buddha Purnima (April/May) and the winter months when the Dalai Lama often visits.
By Air: Fly directly to Gaya Airport (GAY), which is just 12 km away.
By Train: Gaya Junction is the nearest major railway station (16 km away), well-connected to Delhi, Kolkata, and Patna.
By Road: It is a 3-4 hour drive from Patna.
While you can find standard Indian food, the unique experience here is the Tibetan cuisine in the refugee market cafes. Try Thukpa (noodle soup), Momos, and Laphing. You should also try the local sweet Tilkut (sesame treat).
Visit the Tibetan Refugee Market for woolens, singing bowls, prayer flags, and Thangka paintings.
